Welcome to The Lectio Course
Our current series, “How to Hear God” comes with some excellent tools that we are excited to take advantage of. Firstly, the series content is based off of the book How to Hear God: A Simple Guide for Normal People by Pete Greig. Beyond being an author and pastor, Pete Greig also founded the 24-7 Prayer movement and co-writes for the Lectio 365 daily devotional. We highly recommend you get a copy for yourself and follow along!
In addition to the book, the 24-7 Prayer website provides a 5-week group curriculum titled “The Lectio Course” which serves as a companion to both our sermon series and the book. We will use these as our weekly sermon practices. The weeks are centered around the spiritual discipline of Lectio Divina, a simple method of praying and meditating on scripture. Their website describes the course this way:
Each 15 minute video session unpacks a different aspect of Lectio Divina, explaining very practically how to do it. The 5 sessions also feature remarkable guests sharing their experiences and wisdom in this area.
Each session has been designed for small groups to watch together and discuss. Each session comes with a discussion guide and practical activities to help you go deeper in your own relationship with God.
