Welcome,

We’re delighted you’ve chosen to dig more deeply into the Scriptures and consider what God has for you through this sermon.

These sermon practices are ideally intended to be discussed with others, so find a friend, family member, or roommate to join you. If you haven’t yet joined a life group yet, check out our groups page or stop at the Welcome Center for more info.

Introduction: Daily Prayer of Affirmation

This week’s practice is designed to focus your personal time with the Lord on the beauty of who Jesus is. We hope you’ll put this into practice throughout your week, and then share your experience with a friend or group.

The practice is simply to pray and reflect on a daily “Prayer of Affirmation” to remind our soul and spirit of the beauty of the person of Jesus. Below we’ve provided a sample prayer. You can use that prayer as your own this week, or write your own version that feels more personal and moving to you.

Once you’ve read through your prayer, ask God what He wants you to know about Him and who He is in your life. Then, with journal and pen out, spend 10 - 15 minutes listening and reflecting on anything you hear.

Sample Daily Prayer of Affirmation

Dear Heavenly Father,

This is your day, which you created. I choose to rejoice in it and be glad. Thank you for loving me unconditionally at the deepest level. If oppositions/challenges arise in my day I will choose to believe the truth that you are with me and for me. I choose to believe that you are working in my life for good. Thank you for being my protector. Thank you for going before, you are paving the way.

Thank you for the communion I get to share with you because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit which dwells within me. I commit my life to you this day, help me to walk one with you. Thank you that you are more than enough.

I receive your abundant grace and mercy for this day. Thank you for extending me comfort, counsel and courage every moment of the day. Thank you for the power of forgiveness that flows in and through me. Lead me in the flow of your forgiveness, grace and love.

Thank you that you created me to be exactly who you wanted me to be. That when you look at me you see worthiness, holiness, purity and righteousness because that is how you made me to be. I am beautiful and whole in your sight; you delight in me. Today I choose to see myself the way you see me and to love myself the way you love me.

Thank you for your peace, joy, love, and patience. Thank you that you have filled me with them, may they overflow as a byproduct of your great love for me.

I choose to receive everything you have for me today.  I open myself and all my senses to all the ways you want to communicate to me today.

I surrender my will to your will, my mind to the mind of Christ, and my emotions to the balance of the Spirit.

Father, today, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen
