Oct 28, 2018 | Life Groups, SIMPLE FAITH

  1. What stood out to you in the sermon? (Missed it? Try VancouverChurch.org/sermons)
  2. What would you do if you won the lottery of 1.5 billion dollars?
  3. Write a few words that describe your history with money. As a kid were finances fairly stable? Have you ever hit hard times? What was it like when you first got out on your own? What were some of the slogans and sayings that you learned about work, wealth, poverty and money? How freely to you talk about money?
  4. When do you most (and least) worry about money? How do you know when you are worried about finances?
  5. Read Matthew 6:19-24. List a few of Jesus’ main points. What stood out to you in the passage?

  6. Why do you think Jesus talked about money, wealth and poverty more than prayer and heaven combined?
  7. Read Matthew 6:25-34 List a few of Jesus’ main points. What stood out to you in the passage?

  8. Jesus says that you are invaluable to God, and as a result he will always provide for you. When do you most believe this and how does it affect your heart? When do you least believe it and how does that affect you? How does God use money to shape your heart?
  9. Read 1 Timothy 6:10 & Hebrews 13:5, then write out some of what the “love of money” looks like in your life and how it affects your experience of worry and joy. How can you decrease your love of money, in order to decrease level of worry? How can you increase your love of sharing, in order to increase level of joy?

  10. Share a specific step of faith you need to take today, in view of God’s kind heart toward you. Then pray for each other that we will not simply be people who hear the truth of God as an obligation, but as an invitation to less worry and more joy!
