Summer Events

JOY Fellowship for senior adults. Tuesday, June 20 at 12 noon in the High School cafeteria. Our speaker is Dixie Hotaling; she has an amazing life story! Lunch menu is BBQ pork sandwich, keizer roll, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, and fresh fruit salad. Cost $5.50

High School—Students are invited to a pool party on Wednesday, June 21. For more info and required parental release form, visit the High School section on the websire. Summer Camp: July 10-16. For this year’s camp experience, we want to put our students in environments where they have the opportunity to lean on the example of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit to love those who are rarely shown love. Middle School—Parents of incoming 6-8 grade students, we’d love to have the chance to meet you on Sunday, June 25 following the middle school program in the Student Ministries room. We will have light snacks and a time for Q&A. Wednesday Gatherings: During the months of July and August, we will gather every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 PM at Ott & Laurie Gaither’s home for swimming, BBQ, and life groups; except the last Wednesday of each month. Promotion Sunday is July 2nd! All KidsWay Sunday school classes will celebrate the ‘moving up’ of our students on June 25th! Parent emails will be sent with specific age/grade details. Current 8th graders will ‘graduate’ to the High School Ministry in July, which means their last Sunday in Middle School Ministry is June 25th. Graduating 8th graders can begin attending the High School Youth Collective on Wednesday, June 30 at 7 PM in the student ministry room.

Women’s Beth Moore Study, When Godly People Do Ungodly Things, starts Wednesday evening, July 12 from 6 to 8 PM in room 120. This 6-week series takes a look at Satan’s schemes and Christ’s mercy towards those seeking authentic repentance and restoration. Call Nancy at 360-601-6038 to order your workbook.

All Church BBQ! On Sunday, July 23, following each gathering, we will have a BBQ on the church property. Bring your family and join us for lots of fun and food!

Dream Center, August 13-19. Young Adults register for this serving retreat in Los Angeles. This retreat will include a time of serving with the Dream Center in Los Angeles to those in critical need. Register now »

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will begin meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2017 and will continue meeting on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month until June 1, 2018. Registration is $65. Register now »

Opportunities to Serve

VBS Volunteers Needed. Maker Fun Factory, August 7 – 11 from 9 AM to 12 PM. Volunteer before (preparing and obtaining supplies) and during VBS! Sign-ups are located in the church lobby near the Connections Center and in the Children’s Check-in area. Questions? Contact Lynette@vancouverchurch.org.

Women’s Ministry is in great need of some volunteers to take leadership positions for Gramma’s Bazaar, our large annual holiday bazaar by June 30th. If you are interested, please contact Alice Gronas at 360-573-1046 or email dagron-573@hotmail.com.

Kleen Street One of our community partners, Kleen Streets which helps homeless veterans with transitional housing, employment, and other social services, has recently been gifted a home that can house 12 men. They need help furnishing the whole home. If you would like to donate new or gently used twin beds, bedding, towels, toiletries, dishes, utensils, kitchen appliances, toiletries, and cleaning supplies, those can be brought to the church office or Kleen Streets cafe on St. John’s.
