• In the sermon, what was meaningful to you? (vancouverchurch.org/sermons)
  • Read aloud Mark 1:21-22. What was the difference between the teachings of Jesus and those of the religious elite? What do you think it means to speak with authority?
  • Discuss the following statements: If my life was the only teaching people heard from me, how compelling would my teaching be? If you could only measure the accuracy of my doctrine by the obedience of my life, how sound would my theology be?
  • Jesus demonstrates his authority through his powerful words. What are some of the words of Jesus that have most profoundly altered your life?
  • Read aloud Mark 1:23-28. Why do think this confrontation is cited right after the account of Jesus calling his disciples to follow him?
  • Jesus demonstrates his authority through his miraculous works. What are some of the miracles of Jesus you have experienced in your life? What are some of the miracles you’ve seen in the lives of others? How has this all impacted your life?
  • Read Matthew 28:18-20. Notice that Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and earth. Upon this foundation he is delegating his authority through his disciples, calling them to make other disciples, who will make more disciples. What are your biggest barriers to making disciples? Do you believe that Jesus has literally given you authority to make disciples? Explain
  • Discuss who it is right now that you are called to help grow as a disciple of Jesus? Are you willing to help them grow deeper in Christ and in his mission? How often will you connect with them? How will the Bible and prayer be a part of that relationship?
  • End your time in prayer, asking God to help you make disciples who make disciples.
