• In the sermon, what was meaningful to you? (vancouverchurch.org/sermons)
  • Read aloud Nehemiah 13 and share some observation of the passage. Discuss what was meaningful to you and what didn’t make sense.
  • Remember, chapter 12 was a massive celebration of the spiritual re-dedication of all the people. Yet, in chapter 13, we discover Nehemiah has been gone for some years and returns to find the city suffering from a severe spiritual recession. Why do you think the book ends this way? What are some principles we can find in this final chapter of Nehemiah?
  • Watch TheBibleProject.com video, Ezra-Nehemiah, and continue your discussion.
  • The sermon stated that spiritual life is a process. How would you describe your own process of spiritual growth? Describe some of the high and lows, and some of your strengths and weaknesses.
  • It was also declared that in order to avoid spiritual drift we must be attentive to spiritual details. What were the details Nehemiah’s people had neglected, and how had they drifted? What are some spiritual details you tend to neglect, and how does that cause you to drift spiritually?
  • To stay strong in your relationship with the Lord, what spiritual “details” do you need to be attentive to? How can you best do this? Do you want anyone to keep you accountable?
  • Pray for each other, but before you do sit quietly for a couple minutes, and listen to your thoughts. See if the Holy Spirit brings to mind specific perspectives, images or scriptures to pray for one another.
