• What’s your favorite way to stretch a dollar?
  • In the sermon, what was meaningful to you? (vanouverchurch.org/sermons)
  • Read aloud Nehemiah 5, then discuss it. What was meaningful? Confusing? What are some principles that stand out? What can we learn about sacrifice?
  • Discuss this principle: Great impact with God, demands great sacrifice for people. Do you agree? Why?
  • Speaking of himself, Jesus said, “(I) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give (my) life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) How has his sacrifice affected your life this week?
  • Do you ever find yourself working for God, but not necessarily with God? What’s the difference for you? Give an example of each.
  • Most agree that, to have great kingdom impact, we must learn to value people more and value money less. Explain some of your observations of this principle, both in the book of Nehemiah, and in your life experience.
  • What’s the sacrifice God is calling you to right now, and who does it serve?
  • Pray for each other, but before you do sit quietly for a couple minutes, and listen to your thoughts. See if the Holy Spirit brings to mind specific perspectives, images or scriptures to pray over one another.
