Absentee Ballot

If you are unavailable to attend the business meeting on Sunday, July 23, please use the absentee ballot that will be postd below. After reviewing the voting requirements below, print the ballot, fill it out, sign and date it, and return it to the church office by Friday, July 21.

Voting Requirements

The rules governing voting membership shall apply to business meetings only and shall not in any way affect the religious rights and privileges of the members. Voting membership of this corporation will be extended to those who meet the following conditions:

A person who has made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and:

  • Has worshipped regularly with this congregation for not less than six months.
  • Is sixteen (16) years of age or older.
  • Has accepted the beliefs and practices as represented by Church of God Ministries, Anderson, Indiana.
  • Supports the local congregation through Christian service and financial stewardship.
  • Have a mutual desire to protect the unity, share the responsibility, serve the ministry, and support the mission of the VFCOG, by uniting in fellowship with the VFCOG.

Each member agrees with God and the VFCOG family as follows: I will endeavor to protect the unity of my church…

  • …by acting in love toward other members
  • …by engaging only in wholesome conversation
  • …by supporting the teaching ministry and spiritual leaders

I will endeavor to share the responsibility of my church…

  • …by praying for it to accomplish its mission
  • …by inviting the un-churched to attend
  • …by warmly welcoming those who visit

Proposed Bylaw Amendments

This amendment is prompted by the separation of King’s Way Christian School (KWCS) from Vancouver Church in 2015. Other modifications are being proposed to improve readability.

PAST INVOLVEMENT IN CHURCH ACTIVITIES: I was raised in First Church of God and have a deep understanding of the church and school.  My husband (Gary) and I have participated in many mission activities (Camp Attitude, helping with Youth, International Mission trips, etc.) and are actively engaged in a small group. In addition, I attended KWCS and our kids now attend the school also. 

GENERAL BACKGROUND (Schooling, Vocation, and Community Involvement): I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communication and Leadership from Concordia University. I am a Director in Finance at Daimler Trucks North America.

I AM INTERESTED IN THE BOT BECAUSE: I am excited about the changes happening in our church and being part of BOT would allow me to apply by God given gifts to further serve.

Vocation – Personal business owner- DPR Sales (manufacture’s  rep firm) Community Involvement – Youth Baseball since 1980. Currently the Southern Washington Babe Ruth Baseball State Commissioner. PAST INVOLVEMENT IN CHURCH ACTIVITIES: I grew up attending services at First Church of God in Walla Walla.  Ann and I are active in the Life Is Adventure Sunday School Class/Life Group.  Caleb loves 56 and our other children participate in Sunday School activities.

I AM INTERESTED IN THE BOT BECAUSE: As a longtime of Vancouver Church I am interested in the nurturing of current attendees as they walk through life with its many triumphs and trials. It is important to me that we create an environment of love and care as a church body and with individuals as we learn to walk closer to God together. It is also important to me to support the staff and volunteers as they listen to God’s voice about how best to accomplish the above mentioned items. I believe that God has a plan for my being recommended to the BOT and that plan will unfold with time. My goals are to help further His kingdom in any way I can. I am at his service.

GENERAL BACKGROUND (Schooling, Vocation, Community Involvement):  High School Graduate – Brainerd, MN 1968;  Seattle Pacific University 1968-1970; Telecommunications Technical School 1970-71 – Tacoma, WA;  Vocation – Telecommunications Engineering and Sales Management career – 44 years (4 companies – Lynch/Alcatel, Teltrend Inc. – St. Charles, IL, Fujitsu Network Communications, and Clearfield Inc.);  Retired May 2015. 

I AM INTERESTED IN THE LEADERSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE BECAUSE: I believe our church family is on the cusp of a great new era with Pastor Chris Kainu’s leadership, that God is showing His faithfulness to our church family and prior lead Pastors who have gone before – Gerald Marvel, Pastor Birch, and Pastor Don Doe.  Very important to our church’s ongoing success for Christ and His Kingdom, is our ability to nominate and elect great people to support the vision, mission, and staff of FCOG – Vancouver!

I AM INTEREST IN THE LEADERSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE BECAUSE: It is important to have the right people placed in leadership. A knowledge of who would make a good leader comes by knowing a variety of people. That is something I could bring to the table.

GENERAL BACKGROUND (Schooling, Vocation, Community Involvement): Schooling: Evergreen High School – Class of 1994,Warner Pacific College – Class of 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Christian Ministry and Youth Ministry Minor, University of Phoenix – Class of 2016 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. Vocation: Bible and History teacher at King’s Way Christian School (2003-present). Community: Organized, lead, and chaperoned various King’s Way Christian School outreaches to local, domestic, international ministries. Volunteer for the Mt. St. Helens Institute.

I AM INTERESTED IN THE MISSION ACTION COMMITTEE BECAUSE: With the experience and knowledge I have gained over the years serving in various ministry and volunteer positions, I feel called to help my church to continue its legacy in missions.  By serving in this committee, I can empower fellow Christians to reach out to the lost and the hurting in this world which Christ has directly mandated. Having grown up in this church and seeing the mobilization of so many to serve in God’s Kingdom, I feel it is now my turn to be a part of this movement.

PAST INVOLVEMENT IN CHURCH ACTIVITIES:

I have been part of a team for mission trips to Tanzania and Arizona. I‘ve been active in the youth program as a student and a counselor. Currently part of a team teaching the Life is Adventure Sunday School class.

GENERAL BACKGROUND (Schooling, Vocation, Community Involvement): I was a student at King’s Way through the 7th grade.   I currently work as a science teacher at local high school.  I have a love of travel and have started leading student trips to visit other countries. 

I AM INTERESTED IN THE MISSION ACTION COMMITTEE BECAUSE: I think working with missions is an amazing path to growing closer to God. I want to help members of this church find opportunities to serve in a way that both answers the mission call but also leads to spiritual growth.
