local non-profits we work with and support financially on a regular basis
The Giving Closet
Self-defined as a “spacious shopping experience to meet your clothing needs at no charge” the Giving Closet collects and provide clothing, food and other basic resources to those living at or near the poverty level, including the homeless who are transitioning to a new home. Their goal is to help restore hope and dignity in our community.
Our relationship goes all the way back to the organization’s founding, as it was started by one of our own in this very building! Whether it’s donating, sorting, volunteering, or promoting, we are always delighted to work with this ministry.
Sacajawea Elementary School
With more than half of their students are on a free/reduced lunch program and located just down the road from us, Sacajawea Elementary School has a intimate connection and deep care for the low-income families in our community.
Our ongoing relationship with Sacajawea allows us to reach those families on a sustainable and practical level. We work with the school to support and encourage staff, students, and family alike! Anything from preparing and providing dinner events, to seasonal backpack supplies, weekend food, and stocking an emergency food pantry, and more.
Teach One to Lead One
At it’s core, this is a student mentoring program.
Their website describes it this way: “Teach One to Lead One provides educators throughout the nation with constructive mentoring programs for students in grades K-12. Our programs focus on nurturing and instilling universal principles essential to adequately move students forward in their personal and professional lives. Students graduate with a firm understanding of communicative skills and character attributes that lead to success as they move from childhood to young adulthood.“
Many of us are involved as Mentors in this wonderful program.

Why We Plant Churches
What’s one of the most effective ways to reach people far from Jesus here in the US? By planting new churches that thrive. That’s why our vision is to plant four new locations in the next ten years. Churchless people are twice as likely to join the life of a new church than an established church. They feel like the new church might be more receptive to them, and often they are right. Christians who plant churches live like suburban missionaries. They are extremely outreach-minded and rally around the call to lead seekers to Jesus. Also, a freshly forming community is naturally receptive to new people, who can be a part simply by showing up.
What’s one of the most effective ways to keep an established church spiritually vibrant and growing? Planting new churches. Churches that imitate the book of Acts, will be more vitalized, generous and submitted to the leadership of Jesus. This involves sending people out – like Paul and Barnabas – to proclaim the gospel in new locations to establish more and healthier disciples, who establish more and healthier churches. Vancouver Church is committed to empower every follower of Jesus to live as a suburban missionary to their neighbors next door!
God loves to start new churches because God loves the churchless world!

Planted by Pastors Casey & Aimee Graves
“We believe life-change is POSSIBLE. It’s a process that God initiates because of His love. We want to see the GOLD He has planted in people’s lives and bring it to the surface.”
